Use the flow chart as an informal way to check in with yourself today. Start from the top and move through the questions until you discover ‘what you need right now. I have given you some suggestions here, but if you have your own ideas, try them!
CALM: Feeling anxious or restless today? It's important to take some time to focus on your breathing and find ways to release that pent-up energy. This can be difficult to manage, so consider a calming activity, to help bring down that restless energy and it may even improve your overall mood!
Listen to a guided meditation on Insight Timer
Have a warm bubble bath or spa
Call a trusted friend and have a long chat
Go for a walk
Choose something that can help you feel more grounded and centred. Remember to be kind to yourself and take things one step at a time.
ADVENTURE: If you're feeling energetic and optimistic today, take advantage of this good mood and try something you haven't done before. When we seek out new experiences, we make memories that we can look back on when the low mood days come.
Go for a scenic drive
Go for a walk/hike outside or your favourite form of exercise
Get all dressed up and head into town for the day
JOURNAL:
You're feeling a little quieter, reflective or creative today, maybe you're feeling relaxed but your positive mood is making your brain seek stimulation. Challenge yourself to create something that requires you to think more deeply about your life. Or you could reflect on recent experiences and what they may have taught you.
Respond to a journal prompt
Write or create a list of things that bring you joy
Write a letter to yourself to open in the future
Paint, draw, collage, or doodle, something that reflects your mood
REST:
You've woken feeling exhaused today - physically, mentally and emotionally. Perhaps you've worked to the point of burnout, or you've been under a huge amount of stress for too long. Now is the time to rest, listen to your body and minds needs. How can you expect to go at the pace you have been and not give your body time to rest and heal.
Take a nap
Go to bed earlier
Watch a tv show or movie that doesn't make you think too much
Lay in bed, listen to an audio book or your favourite music
